JK flip flops are the most versatile among other types. Flip flops are used in sequential circuits, counters and act as memory storage on some cases.
The 7473 JK flip flop is shown below. This IC package is composed of two independent JK flip flops with independent clear inputs. Notice the small circle in series with the clear and clock inputs. This means the outputs are reset when the clear input is low. For the clock, this means the clock is negatively edge triggered.
