Real Talent Counts

This post is labeled under Personal Development

My sister and I never miss any episodes of American Idol Season 8. Sometimes, we watch replays three times. It's fun seeing it as it unfolds to the finals. And yes, it’s Kris versus Adam.

The show is being watched almost by the entire American population ---and the world, too. With 88 million votes cast-in for the contenders, no doubt the competition is a success.

We may be struck with the show’s impact on us but one thing remains: we love seeing a success story and the triumph of the human spirit. But do we really need to see Adam, Kris and the rest of the finalists’ stories to inspire us to set our dreams into actions? How about our stories of faith and hope overcoming the hurdles during our daily lives? It may be only our family and closest friends who knew the worst thing we got into and still manage to pull from it. Ours may have more impact because we had experience it.

People are looking for heroes

It is human nature to look for a model on whom we look up to and inspire us to move our actions. We seek, ask and listen. We experience and learn from it. Did you miss that portion where a kid asked Adam during his homecoming on how he became a good dancer and singer? “I’ve started young and kept doing it over and over again”, as Adam replied.

When was the last time you honed your talent? Are you learning new skills to prepare of whom do you like to be later? Invest time to learn new strategies on how to achieve your dreams. The more time you spend honing it, the better you become. The first hero you need to admire is YOU.

“They don’t like me!”

Every time we watch the Idol show, my sister does not fail to comment how gay Adam is on his rendition of his songs and the way he dresses on stage. But when it’s Adam turn to perform, time in our house stops. Everyone at home keeps our silence for a while until Adam completes his performance. He’s great! Moments I have observed recurring for every episode of the show.

People are prejudice by nature. Do not expect everyone to like you. They may have doubts but the moment you deliver “the goods”, your talents will just overshadow your flaws. So, start listening to those inner voices that YOU are one hell of guy. Boost yourself up and see the big difference.

Never stop doing best

Nobody expected that Adam will be placed on bottom three from the last episodes. He’s a crowd favorite --- and judges love him, too. Choosing between Adam and Danny of who should compete in the finals against Kris, I felt the lump on Adam’s throat at that moment.
Eventually, he emerged as the next person contending for the post of American Idol Season 8.

Do not rest on your laurels. Celebrate your little victories. Never use it as a license to slow down. Use it as you springboard to the big victory. Gain mastery within self first. Private victory comes before public victory.

As this stage, it’s immaterial if Adam wins the title or not. With the exposure of how talented he is, music record producers are waiting-in-line to break a record deal with him as season ends.

So, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
